Twané Verstraeten and Zane Herselman are high school sweethearts who met in Grade 9 and have known each other for 11 years – Zane being the extroverted “vleispaleis” captain of the first rugby team and Twané being a non-athletic introverted bookworm… opposites attract. Zane is an Operations Coordinator for a citrus exporter and Twané is a Chartered Accountant.
Twané: “Zane is a romantic in every way and always has been. He planned a special getaway evening and organised a surprise picnic. All the items in the picnic basket were wrapped in tinfoil, including the box with THE ring which I opened up and Zane then popped the question.”
“We have attended numerous weddings before and The Plantation was and remains our dream wedding venue. Its reputation and good service (as well as excellent food and drinks) speaks for itself.”
Our venue and flowers looked amazing and our suppliers really went the extra mile!
Our colour theme was shades of purple, white and grey with chandeliers and mirror décor to reflect light and create openness. Fairy lights, chinese lanterns and flowers balls hung over the dance floor and beautiful violin and piano ceremony music contributed to creating the atmosphere that we had hoped for.
Our wedding day was perfect in every way.
Twané: There were three moments from my wedding day that I will always treasure. The first being when I played a special song for Zane before I walked down the aisle – “Here I am” by Bryan Adams. The words of this song describe our journey perfectly and had me in tears before I walked down the aisle. The second moment was walking down the aisle towards Zane and the last is the father-daughter dance to “I loved her first” that had my father and I both (as well as some of our guests) in tears.
Zane: The highlight of my day was when our minister, Reverent Warren Watermeyer, announced us as husband and wife at the entrance of the chapel in front of all our guests.
Surround yourself with the “A-team” of wedding suppliers and sit back at the wedding and take all the moments in. We definitely had the “A-team”
