They say that it’s not that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but it’s your best friends who are your diamonds. This certainly proved true for Kayla and Josh when their best friends got engaged to each other and set this marriage in motion!
Bubbly Kayla is a Pharmacy student at Nelson Mandela University who loves baking, dancing and learning new things. Her beau Josh shares her passion for their religion and loves making people laugh. This delightful Port Elizabeth couple is strongly family oriented, which showed in their intimate wedding day.
A traditional romantic, Josh took Kayla on a date to Ginger, the fabulous restaurant at the Beach Hotel. During a delicious dinner, he started by telling Kayla how much he loves her and then got down on one knee and popped the question. Of course, she said YES!
Kayla and Josh wanted a modern, elegant wedding and chose The Plantation as their venue because they loved the forest setting and overall magical ambiance. They loved that The Plantation was flexible in giving them exactly what they wanted on their big day.
A menu fit for royalty
For their menu, they chose a mix of elegant canapés and mini street food with elegant cocktails for their guests, served in The Plantation’s gorgeous garden after the ceremony. Kayla and Josh each selected their favourite starter (Brie baked in phyllo for her, braised venison and wild mushrooms for him), which was served to guests as an alternate drop. For mains, they opted for melt-in-your-mouth fillet steak and they served their his and hers wedding cake as dessert. “The Plantation’s food was five-star quality” and got a big thumbs up from Kayla.
A sentimental touch
In keeping with their wedding theme, Kayla and Josh selected traditional décor with romantic red and white roses that was effortlessly elegant. Kayla and the significant women in her life selected flowers that were favourites of loved ones who had passed on, and this lovely sentimental gesture added an extra special touch for a couple who deeply loves their family and roots.
“Walking down the aisle, without a doubt! We also loved dancing the night away with our friends and family – it was the wedding I had dreamt of since I was a little girl,” says Kayla. Dancing was a big part of this wedding – so much so that the couple opened the dance floor with a spectacular first dance extravaganza as soon as they entered the ballroom to start the reception!
“Enjoy every moment of your big day, it really does go by so quickly!” advises Kayla. “I was told that every wedding has a ‘slip-up’, but we did not have one problem. Everything was absolutely perfect.”
