Designed as an all-in-one venue, encompassing a romantic chapel, elegant ballroom, luxurious bridal suite, 4-star accommodation and picturesque gardens, The Plantation captures the spirit of love, happiness and celebration on your wedding day. With its impeccable levels of service, superb cuisine, and unique extras such as a horse drawn Victorian carriage, The Plantation prides itself on being the Eastern Cape’s most exclusive wedding venue.

The Plantation Chapel
Mother Nature is a guest of honour at The Plantation’s charming chapel. Indigenous birds serenade the wedding ceremony, and natural light streams in over the bride and groom. While being fully roofed, the chapel has open sides, inviting the beautiful forest in while offering full protection from wind and rain. A quaint wishing well fountain at the chapel’s entrance provides guests with the perfect opportunity to wish the couple well in their marriage, and offers an ideal setting for photographs. The chapel links to The Plantation ballroom via an enchanting wooded forest walkway.

The chapel is equipped with pews, a red carpet, built in sound system and elegant chandeliers. In winter, individual blankets are laid on all the seats and gas heaters warm the chapel. The chapel has been designed to cater for both large and more intimate weddings and can seat up to 200 people.

The Plantation Ballroom
The Plantation’s ballroom epitomizes the spirit of romance and love. Fairy lights twinkle in the open rafters and large arched windows and doors provide panoramic views of the beautiful surroundings. Our spectacular gardens are landscaped and manicured all year round to ensure the perfect setting for your wedding ceremony, reception and photographs. A full wrap around porch and large covered patio allow functions to spill into the garden, which is lit at night with Victorian lampposts, up lighters and fairy lights.

In summer, colonial paddle fans keep guests cool while in winter, a fire roars in the grand fireplace to heat the room. Elegant chandeliers and wall lights can be dimmed to create a cosy and romantic atmosphere. The solid teak floor is perfect for dancing the night away, and the neutral walls and curtains ensure that all colour schemes look perfect.

The Plantation venue seats up to 200 guests. More intimate weddings also fit comfortably without impacting the cosy, comfortable atmosphere of the ballroom. Tables can be placed in a number of configurations, to suit your style and requirements. Large ladies and gents cloakrooms provide comfort for guests and disabled facilities are available.

The Plantation Bridal Suite
The Bridal Suite is offered for brides to prepare themselves before the ceremony, and for the bridal couple’s first night. Hairdressers and make up artists can do the bridal party’s hair and make up on site, alleviating the stress of arriving at your wedding on time! The Bridal suite offers a great way to kick start wedding celebrations and the perfect setting for pre wedding photographs.

A beautiful teak sleigh bed and beach house décor provide a romantic, private environment for the bride and groom’s first night together. Champagne breakfast is served in the bridal suite the morning after the wedding.

The Plantation’s Horse & Carriage
Our hunting green Victorian carriage is pulled by our beautiful carriage horse, Destiny. Destiny is driven by a trained driver and groom, dressed in full carriage finery. She transports the bride to the chapel in stylish vintage elegance, and whisks the bride and groom away for a romantic carriage ride following the ceremony.
 
The Plantation Country Retreat
The Plantation Country Retreat is perfect for overnight accommodation for wedding guests, and for longer stays for out of town visitors. Babysitters can be arranged through The Plantation for guests wishing to leave their children in the guest rooms during the wedding reception.

Costs
Wedding costs consist of fees for venue hire, chapel hire, food, drinks, waitering and accommodation.

The Plantation’s venue hire fee is all inclusive and there is no need for any draping or extra expensive décor. All setting and clearing of the functions, as well as use of all The Plantation’s standard equipment is included in the venue hire fee. This includes a selection of tables, floor length white linen tablecloths, upholstered chairs with white chair covers, elegant crockery, cutlery and glassware, white linen napkins, a selection of overlays, beautifully framed table seating plan and easel, cocktail tables, garden chairs, cake table, cake knife,  envelope gift box and gift table, PA system, a podium for speeches, blankets, heaters and firewood.

Also included in the venue hire fee is use of The Plantation’s full back-up generator and a paramedic service on call for all guests.
Full catering and bar services are provided and can be tailored according to your requirements and budget. The Plantation’s menu comprises of four courses – finger snacks to be served to guests in the garden in-between the service and reception, and a full three course sit down dinner. The Plantation’s philosophy is to provide large portions of food, beautifully presented and served quickly and professionally ensuring that all guests enjoy each course together.

The Plantation offers various venue hire options for different days of the week. Each day offers its own benefits. Saturdays are the most popular days for weddings, but Fridays, Sundays and weekdays should also be considered. Weddings at dusk on Fridays are particularly festive, kick-starting the weekend with a fabulous celebration. Sunday lunchtime weddings offer guests the best use of The Plantation’s stunning gardens. These alternatives are discounted and offer excellent value for money, especially for those wanting the perfection of The Plantation on a limited budget. Discounts are also offered on the venue hire from June to August.
